Kim T. Richards

Artist Kim T. Richards adds a contemporary twist to the traditional themes of landscape and still life through her use of color and textural paint application. Best known for her close up portraits of flowers, Kim's intimate paintings invite the viewer in for a closer look. Primarily painting outdoors or from flowers in the studio, Kim's paintings capture a sense of calm, spotlighting the beauty that we glance at, but seldom take time to examine closely.

Growing up in Brooklyn NY, artist Kim T. Richards had access to wonderful museums and an early exposure to so much of the world’s great art. After earning a BFA in illustration from Parsons School of Design, and a 25 year career as a textile designer, Kim turned her attention to fine art. In the spring and fall, you can often find Kim outdoors painting in beautiful the Loudoun and Fairfax counties. When the weather is not conducive to painting outdoors, she spends her days in the studio painting floral bouquets or re-imagining landscapes painted in plein air.
