Ute Gil
Middleburg, VA
Ute Gil was born in Germany, where she began exploring art as a teenager through traditional folk and silk painting. These early experiences sparked a lifelong passion that she continued to develop while living in Spain, where she studied pastel and oil painting. After moving to the United States in 1990, Ute paused her artistic journey to raise her two children, returning to painting in 2003 with renewed dedication. She studied oil painting at Northern Virginia Community College and trained with accomplished artists including Kurt Schwarz, Maggie Siner, Diane Tesler, Sara Linda Poly, and Katherine Riedel. She paints many subjects, but her favorites are animals, where she brings out their spirit and personality in a way that feels full of life. Ute’s work has been featured in numerous shows and publications throughout Virginia.
