Julie Miles
White Post, VA
Julie Miles is known for her highly stylized contemporary paintings of bees and botanicals. Her pieces often are painted on canvas troweled with plaster and gilded in gold or silver leaf. Always influenced by the natural world, a rather feral child delighting in solitude atop her horse, she constantly explored and was informed by her countryside and nature.
A native of Virginia with a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University, Miles now resides in the Shenandoah Valley.
J Miles Studios, a successful decorative and fine arts studio, was founded in Washington, DC, in 1991. Specialties include gilding, murals, wood graining, and fine art. Julie’s work has been featured in several embassies, hotels, restaurants, residences, and numerous publications, including the cover of “The House that Faux Built”
Julie has exhibited in many groups and solo shows in the greater metro area. She is a member of The Society of Gilders and served on the board of The Barns Of Rose Hill, a non-profit community arts center in Berryville, VA.
